NURSING TEAM
The practice nurse team provides nursing services mainly for people who come to the surgery for their care.
They are state registered nurses, all with many years of nursing experience. Additionally they are specially trained to provide the nursing services listed below:
- Immunisations for children and adults
- Contraceptive advice and cervical smear tests
- Advice about diet, smoking, alcohol and exercise
- Checks for people with asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart or chest problems
- Blood tests, dressings, swabs, ear syringing, stitch removal
- Foreign travel advice
- Assisting with minor surgery

Healthcare Assistant and Phlebotomist

A healthcare assistant (HCA) is trained to perform certain healthcare duties to support the doctors and nurses. Blood pressure checks are an example of the type of duty which may be performed.
